I have definitely heard of this region, and not just for the wineries!! There are some wonderfully talented artists in this region and I have some gorgeous hand-blown glass items from the studios there! I have not visited as it is a very long way from Nth Qld!
I haven't heard of this region in particular but Australian wine is generally well regarded in England. I have visited quite a few wine growing areas in Europe and they do tend to make a lovely tourist destination!
Not only have I heard of it, the majority of my wines come from that area. I will be in Perth next month for a week with one of my daughters and her children but as she is the only daughter who does not drink, I'm disappointed I won't get down there to visit.
Yes, on a few occasions. It's a beautiful area to visit - even if you don't drink wine. The beaches are pristine and absolutely gorgeous. It's also one of Australia's best surfing areas, and also a great spot to go hiking, kayaking and caving. There are also some great local festivals and markets, where you can purchase yummy local produce and the creations of local artisans.
