Even if you were vaccinated as a child, a doctor may administer a shot if you have received a dirty cut or wound. Tetanus is a serious disease which can be fatal in up to 30% of cases.

Have you had a tetanus shot? Was it because you hurt yourself or was it a 10 year booster?

Yes; I had a booster 6 months ago. I'm a firm believer that everyone should have one.

No I have not.

10 year booster.
They are something one should have, and not take the risk.!
I can't remember how long is is since I had a tetnus booster. All I can recall is that it was because I had stepped on a rusty nail...ouch.
Yes, they're pretty standard here in Britain.
that's a good question -you have it every 10years and I dont know when I last had it.

Recently I got bitten slightly by my own dog (long story -not his fault) and my finger became very swollen and red and I thought I would have to go to the doctor.

Instead I went to the chemist, and she asked about tetanus shot -I have no idea so will probably get one next time I have to go to the DR

yes many years ago was advised to get a tetanus injection as I had a large splinter in the top of my foot, had gone to ambulance station and they had terrible trouble getting it out. have not had one since.
Yes. We had them at school and then the booster. Always a precaution doctors take with an injury that may be unclean. Better to be safe rather than sorry.
Yes. Got piece of glass through shoe sole into foot. Went to GP; he removed glass, cleaned & dressed wound & gave me a Tetanus injection. That was about 4half years' ago.

Would ALWAYS have one. I like to chat, so don't want Lockjaw!
Yes I have tetanus routinely every 5 years . I am a dog groomer and once a sedated alaskan malamute bit down on my hand and got lock jaw for around 40 seconds. He also lived with horses so no choice. Jab away Dr.
I had a tetanus booster 2 years ago. I got an old nail in my finger and went to the doctor.
No, thankfully, because I'm allergic to the Tetanus vaccine and it would likely kill me. I've wore a Medic Alert bracelet since I ended up in hospital after receiving the childhood jab.

Yes, but you should have the combined vaccine for tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (whooping cough) instead of just the tetanus shot. Protect yourself and particularly young babies but getting immunised for whooping cough as well.
PS this photo is totally irresponsible and should be removed, showing a 20 ml syringe implies this injection is a large volume which is no where near the truth. This vaccine is in a small syringe, with a small volume, that really does not hurt, showing something like this is scaremongering

Last year, i had an accident and got my hand stuck in a dogs mouth, he was sedated and got lock jaw for about 40 seconds.
