Never won the big one - yet, but just this week I've won $21 on two different scratchies. Then I find a winning $10 scratchie someone had left on the bench of the Tatts place.
I always check them over etc and was surprised to find this winner! Usually it's because people don't quite understand the game. Years ago I had luck in town with the same thing so keep checking!
I've also won the bottom division, so about $10-15 per time, of the Saturday draw a few times now.
My neighbour was one of the first big winners when Oz Lotto began in the 1990's, it enabled him to move away from the country town where he'd grown up and to Melbourne.
I quite often win up to $40 and once I won $600 in Lotto. I have won a fair bit on Keno and a lot on the pokies in the past. Sadly, I find everybody else's behaviour at the pokies quite revolting so I don't go much any more. One pig even spat a big fat golly on the machine because it didn't win!!!! I take hand sanitiser and wipe the machines before I play. Incidentally, I complained and the guy was thrown out.
I have only won small amounts. I think the greatest amount I have won was $175 as my share in a syndicate run by the news agent. Otherwise I have received little prizes like $42, $23.50 . I hardly ever put a lotto on nowadays.
Us? My husband has barely got 1/2 the money back he's laid out on the Lotto tickets. A primary school friend, (many, many years ago) won $10,000 & her husband bought 3 cars with the money in 12 months. She bought a lounge, then later, he bought a fishing trawler & they moved up north. He lost on that, & they retired to the south coast of NSW.
Another friend's dad thought he'd won $25 & went to pick up the money but was told a cheque would be sent out to him Not for $25, but for $25,000! 2 years later, her 1 of her 2 brothers & someone else shared $20,000! No one else in my family has ever bought them.
