I have only recently bought this product to make some raw biscuits.
I read about all it's other uses and I have already used it as a moisturiser.
Here is link to other uses:
I love the smell and taste of coconut and for so many years, it was said it was unhealthy and now seems to have made a comeback!
Raw Organic Virgin Coconut Oil is a staple in my pantry. If I'm not cooking with Extra Virgin Olive Oil then it's with Coconut Oil - it all depends on the dish I'm making.
In addition to cooking with it, I use it as a cuticle moisturiser - it's brilliant, I have also used it on my face (a little goes a long way). It's also has great antiseptic properties. I've used it on my dog as a salve.
My dog needed to go to hospital and undergo quite extensive tests. In order for these tests to be done, the vet needed to shave an extensive patch of his hair (he's a King Charles Cavalier) and has a lot of hair!
Using a cotton ball, I dabbed the coconut oil along the area where he was shaved and it seamed to stop him from biting and scratching in that area.
I've also used coconut oil on hot spots (again just dabbing a small amount with cotton wool). Hope this helps. xx
Yes. For both. I love thinly sliced potato fried in it. If you add chopped bacon it is divine. I also decanted some into a smaller jar with a couple of drops of lavender oil for use as a deodorant. I really like the way it absorbs into the skin and doesn't ruin your clothes. It washes out well too. It's like a holiday in a bottle - smells like Hawaiian vacation. ʘ‿ʘ
I have never used it in cooking...my daughter in law said that it is so yum, I will never put it down.
I would only use it on my face if nothing else was available.....I think it would be a raw product for me to use.
My skin is very sensitive.....But I do know the small, and love it.
Never. I've oily skin, so don't need to add anymore oil! Always have to buy non-greasy moisturisers. Currently, that's 'Oil of Olay(formerly Ulan), & Nivea Body moisturiser. As a 'special treat' I sometimes use 'L'Air du Temps' body lotion on arms & legs!
Ahhhh. Yes love the perfume and body lotion. I love it in the hot months and so did my mother as I used to buy the sets for her as a treat. As for the coconut oil, bought the organic type but haven't used yet but do use the spray can regularly.
It certainly is delicious to cook with ,and I can recall, way back in the 70's using it as a moisturiser and also to condition my hair which was VERY long back then! Now I am very careful with anything I use on my skin as I have so many allergies which have worsened as I have gotten older..
I use coconut oil everyday! Firstly I use it to cleanse my face by applying about 1 teaspoon, and gently wiping off with a warm wet facewasher. I then reapply a thin smear of coconut oil as a moisturiser. I have done this for many years now and do not need to wear makeup or apply anything else to my skin. I also use coconut oil as a body moisturiser or deep hair conditioner as needed.
In the kitchen, I often use coconut oil for baking, raw chocolates or other raw vegan desserts, but not so often for frying as it has a low smoke point.
I have used it as a hair oil as well as a moisturiser. In a certain state in India, coconut oil is regularly used for cooking. The people of this particular region are also known for their good health, intelligence and industriousness. But they also eat a lot of fish - not sure if it is the fish or the coconut oil that helps.
I use it as much as I can. I put it with my fruit smoothies, sometimes fry with it, add it to porridge and also make healthy treats with it. The lauric acid in it is extremely good for you. It has anti-bacterial & anti-fungal properties, and is good for all sorts of other ailments. I haven't used it as a skin or hair treatment though. If you go to the website www.hippocrates.com.au, there is a really good page on all the benefits of coconut oil.
