Yes I can remember my mother, back in the 60's collecting the most gorgeous Sea Lettuce at the beach, and then taking it home to wash and prepare!!! This was SO long before any Japanese restaurants were even readily available to eat at!!!
Of course, way back then, the beach where I lived was known to be one of the cleanest in Victoria. The fish which we ate as kids was freshly caught off the pier there, and we never considered any problems like pollution being an issue back then when the water was so pristinely clear and beautiful.
These days, I eat a lot of seaweed wrapped sushi, which I absolutely adore. I usually have teryaki chicken with avocado as the filling within the rice as I am allergic to prawns.and many other ingredients.I really enjoy this immensely!
