Crowdfunding is becoming an increasingly popular way for entrepeneurs to get their products into the market place or for artists to fund their work.

Yes, I have participated in crowd funding of a couple of books and a documentary/research project. I like the idea of it because it allows things to get made which otherwise couldn't.
Exactly - people power, lots of individuals working together, rather than just having to rely on big corporations. Empowering!
I had no idea? of it.
I had a look on Google, now I know :)
It seems like a 'way' to get things rolling, I would not do it as I'm too stuck in my ways,.but! it does sound viable for other people.
It certainly is viable! It's getting some really interesting projects off the ground these days :)
I'm going to look into it more...not for any of my projects, but for people I know...who may need the info. :)

Oh good! It's one of the really positive aspects of the internet I think, that folks can get a helping hand from anyone anywhere :)

I am aware of crowdfunding but have never participated. It is however, something I might do in the future.
I've seen lots of crowdsourced project that I would have loved to drop a couple of bucks on but I never have the spare change to toss around. Crowdsourcing has become a huge thing for musicians, and game programmers and since I have an active interest in both area, I tend to see a lot of crowdsource campaigns.
Just a few dollars or pounds could make all the difference - it doesn't have to be much from each person.... I think it's a great way to make a difference without needing to have a lot of money to donate.
Welcome back!! :)

No I've never heard of it.

I have been a bit suspicious of it in the past but participated in crowdfunding an art project recently. I felt really good that my money was helping both the artists and the community they were working in and hopefully producing something that will last for a long time. I'll be more open to similar ideas in the future as a result!
