Yes, I have made a chocolate cake using beetroot and it was delicious.

You would not know that it had beetroot in it.

Easy to make, though it still had sugar in it, so that rules it out for me making it again - sad...Rice and I cannot eat beetroot chocolate cake....

So true. *sob* . . .and it is so danged yummy too!

You two could share a teensie piece of this yummy treat if you lived close to each other. Then you would simply have to be strict with your sugar afterwards!! Sometimes a little treat can truly lift the spirits!!

I have had it once, and it was quite nice.
It is a tad 'out-there', but if it works! why not.
I'm always open to new things.
Never made.

Have eaten.... didn't overly excite me.
No. I have never had the opportunity to try it. I'm sure it would be nice.
I have heard of it but never had it.
Yes to both. It's lovely. Beetroot is lovely any old way . . . I love it. However, I have to avoid it and the cakes, together or alone, due to boring diabetes. Bah, humbug. (Can't eat them either.)

No I have never tried it

I love beetroot, and have done so since my childhood! Cakes made with beetroot are just as yummy and interesting as cakes made with carrots! I think many people are just too scared to try things which may sound a little different! Chocolate and Beetroot Cake will soon be as mainstream as Carrot Cake is today! And not a day too soon!!
Yes I have - delicious delicious delicious.
Many people combine chocolate and beetroot for red velvet cake AND then add colouring to obtain that beautiful red rich colour.

I have actually made red velvet cake (albeit) without chocolate and gluten free and dairy free and used the beetroot to achieve the colouring. I haven't posted the recipe yet but he's a sneak peek ...
Yes I have. I cooked it myself for my son;s girlfriend who is lactose intolerant and gluten intolerant. Tasted pretty good for beetroot!
Yes, my MIL made a choc beetroot cake. It was quite nice, actually. Strange combo, I thought - much like the black bean brownies my cousin once made.

Yes to both. I even made it with my own homegrown beets.
The people at work didn't believe you could make a chocolate beetroot cake so I had to make another one to take in for them to try. None came home!
I wish I had 2 both questions.
