Definitely! I used to put everything under the mattress,but then I became so crippled with arthritis that I could not lift the mattress to get at them!! It was at that point that I started to put them in another so-called 'safe' place,and instantly forgot where that place was!!! As I have gradually had new important documents, and after finally finding the older ones,I have a place which I can easily get to,as well as remember!
We have a well organised filing cabinet. My husband is very organised, so everything is easy to find and is well named, so we just reach in to each section and there it is !!! We showed the kids from a young age where our wills are. There is a section for ' House ' which would have the deed to the house.
Yeah, well I don't know which 'moving carton' of 150, my Birth Certificate's in!
Narrowed down, it's in 1 of 25 labelled 'Study'!
Will be cheaper, & easier to pay for new one, methinks!
In the greatly traumatic situation of having to move from my beautiful home of 40 years', my mind was just an emotional jumble, & I gave no thought whatsoever to that important piece of paper, along with many other things!
