My husband and I had some shares for a while and later we changed our superannuation to a self managed fund and invested in shares. We have since decided that was all too much work and gave it back to the experts to manage.
Nope, but then again, I'm only 23. I still don't know how it works, and frankly, the idea kinda freaks me out.
Yes. I used to work in the City, my brother works for a hedge fund and a large proportion of my husband's remuneration is in stock and stock options. I think it's fair to say I'm quite well versed in investing in stocks!
Not but I definitely consider doing so in the future!
I have not, but had a few family members who did.
They lost a great deal of money some 30 years ago!
P.S....The word on the grapevine?....another BIG One is coming Soon!

My bother brought some stock in my name when I was a child. Its marginal. I just never understood how the stock market works. If I had a large sum I would buy some stock in a company that I think has potential.

Yes, I have had shares most of my adult life, and even though now I have a managed super fund, I still have some shares apart from in this fund where there are many.

However, I do now understand anything about them so let my financial adviser do it all.

Used to have a decent portfolio, but got rid of it, at a good time, to pay for kids' schooling.
Have only one lot of Shares now given by Company I worked for. Holding onto them for a 'rainy day'!
Yes - have several. Holding on to them for the moment as shares can be a bit "swings and roundabouts" in my experience. At the moment the blue chip ones are doing ok.
Yes. I made some gains and more losses. I invested for short terms and sold them as soon as I could make some profit. Some slipped so much that even after years they never recovered. I learnt my lesson & gave up.
