Etihad and Emirates serve reasonable airline food, and have lots of it. Qantas A380 has unlimited supply of snacks and drinks which can be a good alternative if the food is not that great. I find there is always something I can eat on the platter that is served. If not the main dish, then the salad and sweets are not bad.
I enjoyed my recent Qantas inflight food - we had pizzas and Magnum ice creams for the middle of the movie on a 12 hour flight, AND help yourself Anzac biscuits up the back of the plane! No complaints from me.
I don't know whether Virgin still charges for food, but when they first started I found their food more than acceptable. Tip: Order a special meal and you will be served first on most airlines. The other passengers will hate you, but tough!
The few times I have flown the food was nice once and OK a few more other times. One item was disgusting to me. My wife didn't think so. I guess because she is a chef she could envision what this item could go with and so on.
Well what I may think is good food, others may not, but I enjoy the food in Qantas business class, (staff travel) & also eat the food in cattle class, & take photos of it all. i've never been sick from the food, only once from mixing my 3 drinks which I've never done since! because we're staffers, they usually feed us last. I'm a bit of a slow eater, so I'm only 1/2 way through my meal, when they announce the plane is about to land! I stick what I can, into my handbag, to eat later! I sometimes remember to take along a plastic container! If we have 2 little cakes with our coffee, I'll take those & we'll have them for afternoon tea with my daughter & her partner, when we visit for the week.
