I thought it was an ingrown toenail, had an inflamed area down the side of one cuticle but I fixed it myself.
My Grandmother had a podiatrist who made a mess of her feet. Did everything his new way which was pretty much the opposite of what my Grandfather , who learnt in the army, taught us to do. She suffered with very painful feet at the end of her life.
Miro, my doctor gives me access to cheaper podiatry visits under the Health Care plan whicn entitles me to 5 visits annually. Sometimes I use Physiotherapy or a dietician (dietician doesn't incur any out-of-pockets). It does come under Medicare I think but as all bulk bill, I only have the small cost of the Podiatrist or Physiotherapist to pay. It does make a difference when you have your feet attended to professionally so my ingrown toenail is always there but it doesn't bother me between visits. It's just the way my big toenail grows.
I try to look after my feet myself, not up to having someone else doing my nails or feet. For me it's a tad (too personal)...but! I know that Podiatrists do amazing work, for those who really need them.
I have had the odd ingrown, and fixed it up really quickly, after having a shower.
