Yes I have been in a helicopter twice now however many years ago and would no longer want to do this!
The first time I had a friend who worked on tugs up north and he took me with him when the helicopter was meeting a ship for some reason.
The second time was over the grand Canyon, and that was a bit frightening for some reason.
I have been on a helicopter ride twice that I can recall. I got my dad a gift of a scenic helicopter ride over Melbourne for his 70th birthday ( or was it his 80th?). We had a great day, and he really enjoyed that. The other time, I took my sons up in a helicopter ride over Phillip Island, looking at the coast line and the Grand Prix track. For no reason in particular, one of my sons decided to make a movie of our flight. Later on, that piece of footage helped him get into film school. Good thing we went on that flight !! I will more than likely go on other helicopter flights during our travels. The views from the helicopter are unnrivalled, and are sometimes the only way to get close enough to see something properly.
NO, those things are 2 small 4 me 2 ride in, but I did send my husband up in the Red Baron from Bankstown airport, for his 40th/50th birthday present, & he loved that! We flew over the Grand Canyon in a 10 seater plane in '89, & I was so scared I was crying to myself, going there & back again. I told my mother about that, later, & she replied: "Well if you come down, you come down" A month later 4 tourists were killed when 1 of those small planes came down over the G.C.
I have been in helicopters a few times now. I love them. I would jump at the chance to go in another. My husband started taking flying lessons in helicopters, but with one thing and another couldn't continue.
I think the aircraft he has getting built is about the next best thing to a chopper. STOL aircraft- short , take off & landing. I am really looking forward to it being ready for us to use. Can land on a short paddock.
