I used to play tennis and it was one of the only sports that I played for quite some time.
I was not brilliant at it, I would say I was mediocre despite having had lessons, and playing for perhaps 10 years at a club. At the time it was probably more of a social thing, and we did it at my school also.
I did try to play tennis in my teens, and was totally dreadful at it,due to early onset arthritis. However I did go on and have a lot more joy with Badminton which I played after school for a year or two on Tuesdays!
We used to have tennis lessons at school, every summer. It was that or athletics and I loathed and detested both :( I am truly unsporty and consider anything like this as a horrendous waste of time. I could have been curled up in the shade reading a book but instead I was in the blazing sun, failing to connect a racket and a ball, whilst getting heat and sunstroke. Miserable.
When I was a teenager our school played a sports day challenge at a private school (i don;t remember which) and I was on our tennis team. I had never played tennis and had no idea what the rules were so it goes without daying that I was rubbish at it.
I played a lot of tennis when y kids were little but then life for too busy and it kind of fell by the wayside. I did try to play again a couple of years ago but fell and hurt my knee. The knee's buggered now, so no more tennis for me!
