Feeding lying down worked best for me when my babies were brand new, and I still prefer it for when they are going to sleep (and often drift off myself whether I mean to or not). For toddlers I like to feed them sitting upright in my lap, or in my Ergo carrier. That also worked well with my son when he was younger and used to spit the milk back up a bit. He chucked up a lot less when fed in an upright position.
In a big, comfy chair, which would 'push-back' & lo! footstool would appear! I had to have something that was suitable to ME, as I HATED bf'ng to the nth degree!
If it wasn't for the 'goodness' baby got from it, I would NEVER have done it! I lasted 6 months' with my first, & 3 months' with my second! I stopped when I wanted to, in agreement with my Paediatrician!
I now use that chair to read my newspapers', & it's still very comfy, but I DID look after it. It turns '30' this year, same as my handsome 6'4" son!
