My internet used to drop out some years ago,but I am now connected on the brand new NBN Optic fibre system, and now it is not actually the internet which drops out,but a drama with the adapter which has to be reinstated vis the Troubleshooting file. NBN is of course only far quicker if downloading music or movies, but with all the copper phone lines being decommissioned we are not really given an option for land-line phones if connecting new services. The other down side is that whoever we have our land line connected with, will mean that our internet service has to be with the same service provider.I used to have my phone with Telstra and my internet with dodo, which suited me brilliantly in every way including financially. When I had to chane to NBN I told Telstra that they would have to offer me an extremely good and competitive rate for me to stay with their land line service and they certainly did come to the party!!!
Frequently, and it drives me NUTS!! It is also extremely slow to connect and my screen freezes constantly. I live in an apparent 'black spot' just 11 kms from Melb CBD. Telstra will not assist as I'm with Optus & Optus will do nothing. Thank God for my Landline which always works, does not need charging and does not cost elderly relatives a fortune to use. Yay Landline. But internet 'stinks'
I have this same issue, being in Frankston and with Optus, but the wires out in the street up to the house are Telstra's responsibility. When I moved in two years ago, two separate tech's had to be sent at two different times.
After nearly two years with no problems, mine's suddenly been cutting out and I can't figure out why.
I've had to reconnect all the cables, pull the power point cord in and out, etc, to get it working again.
Yes, occasionally it cuts out, but it is only between the modem and my computer and I have been told how to fix it when the cut out occurs. When there is a cutout from 'outside' to the modem then it is someone else's problem and I just wait till it gets fixed.
Oh man. Not anymore, but we did go through a stint where this was a daily occurrence. I just wanted to smash the modem into tiny little pieces. Technical difficulties will do that to the most sane and patient of us, I believe.
