I had a dog, but he was never allowed to sleep in the bedroom....or...on the bed.
Maybe if my son ever leaves home, I may get a dog.But still no bedroom...I think myself, one should not treat animals as humans, but they can be part of the family of course. :)
I had my dog for 17 years. At first her bed was in the laundry but one day I went to investigate a banging sound in the hall and she had pulled her basket all the way to the bedroom. Once she had it there she climbed in and went to sleep. After that her basket was always at the foot of the bed.
Our Corgi's slept downstairs in a 'palatial' bed made, going base (cement) to top: newspapers, carpet square, thick clear plastic, old candlewick throw, thick cotton towels, then 'piece de resistance', lambswool throws!
This was set against a wall, protecting them from cold breezes.
No need to be on bed. During day, if we home, they could access upstairs to be with us.
