Yes, it does. But not as much as the use if auto-tuners, when a singer is supposedly singing live, so in some ways if they can't sing and require assistance of some sort I would rather they lip-sync to a recording than sing through an auto-tuner.
Frankly, I would rather return to the days when only people who could sing were considered singers....
Yes I hate this! But then only thing I hate even more is when someone you know tries to do it and fails miserably but you have to pretend their rendition was fabulous! Haha. It's the most awkward thing in the world to watch.
Heard of a concert with Mariah Carey recently where she lip synced and it was pretty obvious. The patrons were furious as the tickets were pretty pricey.
I also hate people singing to tracks at paid concerts. Fans deserve better.
Their stupidity of doing it amazes me. Audiences are wonderfully forgiving and they expect entertainment, not perfection. You can buy a cd for that. As Jennifer has said - punk is a wonderful example. I bet nobody imagines that John Lydon can really hold a tune, bless him. Why do it when you can look such a fool?! Lip synch and auto tune are just begging for a fall. Remember Milli-Vanilli?
