It infuriates me. Not only does it waste electricity, but it ruins the actual atmosphere for Christmas the following year, because the lights are no longer special or festive. I also think it makes the area look a bit common and trashy.
This actually drives me bonkers, although it shouldn't. Businesses in my area leave theirs up all year but only turn them on at Christmas. To me, they are a part of being celebrating the season, but when you are not using them, having them up is an eyesore. I live in a town that is dependent on tourist dollars, it only makes sense to me to make the town look as good as possible, they should be taken down off-season.
This drives me crazy!
It is being extremely lazy, and who wants to look at them, in Jan or Feb or even in July! one house did around the other side of town.
It really does take away from Christmas, I know that.
I certainly does annoy me, & it’s such a waste of electricity. I think people should only have their lights on, for the month of Dec! But having said that, it’s 12 days after Christmas that the decorations are supposed to come down, so perhaps up to the date! I don’t mind if they stay up, & are turned off.
