My next door neighbour on one side has the most beautiful garden in the front -there are always flower of some sort and it is meticulously looked after.
A few houses down though they have a very uygly unkept verge which I do not like -they always have cars parked there and it generally looks awful -no one with gnomes or anything else notable like that however!
One of my neighbours has a snowflake tree that looks gorgeous when its in flower. Another has a very pretty pink Calistimon. I wish the folks at the bottom of the hill would mow the lawn outside their house (I'm not sure if it's theirs or council land) because the grass gets so high sometimes my three year old just about disappears in it and I worry about snakes.
To be honest, I don't pay much attention to my neighbours' yards. There is one yard close to where we lived before, though, that sticks out like a sore thumb. The place was a total dump. At least that's what it looked like when we'd drive past.
Nothing really outstanding comes to mind...Just lovely tidy yards with wonderful flowering plants which add such colour and vibrancy to the entire area! I adore my own plants, whether they are roses, hibiscus,or simple herbs!I make certain that I spend an hour each day pottering among them all!!! I do think that in my own yard the favourite thing must be the fabulous tropical green tree frogs which thrive and always seem to be smiling when they look at me!!
My 1-2ft weeds and their taller planted friends have a more rustic natural looking feel than any sterile manicured garden ( they have movement and grace unlike rigid symetrical sticks planted in rows pretending to be natural
I love my front yard! Every year I grow a wild pumpkin vine right to the curb and the mailman has to ride around it! Everyone loves it as it has so many pumpkins I give them away for free. It is a great way to connect with all the neighbours. Everyone else's yards are boring :(
