I usually manage reasonably well, but then,I do not have any children Full time!! I think that child-bearing years are this for a very good and practical reason....the older we get,the less energy a lot of us tend to have! I do love children and will often look after the boys from next door.We all enjoy the time together immensely.I have even forgotten to send them back home sometimes, but then, these are very well-behaved children.
I'm the same, and sometimes I babysit till 3:30 A.M.!!!
I can't sleep knowing the little ones need me to look after them, even if they(are sleeping)....It's my 'watch', so I have to stay awake till 3:30 am?
One night I had had no sleep for 22 hrs.....it's very cruel to expect a grandmother to do that. :(
I am the same - if there is a bub here I cannot sleep and it is so exhausting. What I hate is that they ask for X amount of time and just never come to get the child. We ALWAYS have to ring and say, "Where are you?" Then you get the, "Oh, we just thought we'd go shopping, have a sleep, let him sleep over," (GRRRR!!) or the classic . . "I thought (insert relative here) was picking him up.
O M G !!! mine are the same...only they only go out at night, and have a ball!
I always have to phone them, say 'where are you'?...they say 'Oh we are having a great night, thanks Mum?*#!?"....Then I feel bad saying come home....so I say well do you have any idea? what time you may come home.
I don't have children but my husband does and now I have four step-grandchildren. They are so full of energy. I have an overwhelming respect for working mums; I have no idea how they manage. They must live in a constant state of exhaustion.
