As harsh as it sounds, I tend to finish up and end the call. My line of work necessitates many hours on the phone negotiating with cast, crew, agents, locations and suppliers in general. When one call ends another starts, so I try and wind up a call once business has been done. Similarly once I've finished chatting with family and friends, I would rather end the call sooner and catch up in person instead (where possible).
It does not sound harsh. It it was harsh then when a person hangs up first when you are talking to them that would make them a mean person. I prefer real world conversations a lot better though.

Both!

If it is a work call, or something fairly important, I do tend to wait for them to hang up.

If friends or family, I may hang up first...depends on the flow of the call too.
It depends on who the caller is. I would never be the first to hang up on my mother but I frequently initiate the end of busines coversations. In the workplace it's a time management and efficiency issue.
I usually find myself hanging up first - I don't know why, I just do.

That depends on who the person is.
Sometimes people say good bye a few times, and then I am usually the first to hang up however, it all depends on how the conversation goes.

I usually hang up first.
In 'Telephone Etiquette 101', it's the CALLER's perogative to end a call.
That person 'owns' the 'call' as it's being PAID by caller.
To do other otherwise, is bad manners!

I bet THAT info comes as a surprise to many folk!
I hang up first. Someone has to after all so why not.
If it's a caller with an accent I tend to hang up, I just don't have the patience sometimes, especially if I've just come home from work, or it's dinner time.
