My children bring at least 10 reminders or notices from school per week on average. Most of them end up on the refrigerator which get sorted in 'due time'.
I have seen refrigerators in friends' houses, which are as clean as a whistle, whereas others are decorated with magnets from all around the world that serve as mini-souvenirs reminding everyone where the family has been on overseas trips. Mine however serves as a clipboard with many important and not so important notices and memos ending up there along with photos, grocery lists, invitation cards, restaurant phone numbers, etc.
Do you use your refrigerator as a handy reminder tool, or do you like it clean?
Yes, I put up the kids' art and sometimes invitations to remind me to RSVP. There's not a whole lot of room though since it all has to be higher than my toddler can reach or he rips things down. I think a lot of people now have fridges that aren't magnetic so you can't stick things to them like that.
We used to, however the magnets caused the white enamel paint to deteriorate and we were left with ugly rust patches all over the fridge. Our nice shiny new fridge is a definite "no-go zone" with magnets!
Yes, we use it for drawings, paintings, notices, brochures and menus... It was made magnetic for a reason... in our day and age it is so convenient to just 'put it up on the fridge', the piece of furniture we turn to in times of need and comfort!
We use our freezer rather the fridge, as out notice board. We use it to hang up our shopping list, teddy bear wish list (we're collectors), and pictures of the dogs we sponsor. My mum also has all my old childhood drawings on there.
We have a stainless-steel fridge, which for some reason, magnets won't stick to the door, but they stick at the sides of the fridge. However, I found a product at the Royal Easter Show that is a soft plastic disk with a bull-dog type clip attached. The plastic sticks to the stainless-steel and the bills and reminders are attached with one clip. Great idea..
we used to use it to show our kids the schedule and put early pictures of holidays up to get them used to the idea, plus it was the home for school schedules, reminders, photos of family when we lived away and happy reminders and goodwill sayings. such a big space and visited so frequently seems a shame not to use.
After seeing this question, it's now time I removed all my 70 + fridge magnets from places we have visited, & most with very old notes, (about nothing!) under them, to give the fridge doors a very good clean! Ugh!
