When I go into the city I use public transport. I get there more quickly than if I drove. I don't have to pay for parking and worry about peak hour traffic. I can read, scribble in my notebook or gaze out the window. Adelaide public transport is reasonably priced, especially for those who get a concession.
I do on weekdays to get to/from work ( we have to drive to the bus stop) however public transport in Brisbane has just gone up ( again) & it is becoming ridiculously expensive. For 2 of us to use it on a daily basis we are considering driving in to town & finding early bird parking somewhere. It works out nearly the same (not taking into account petrol costs). I'm sure we're not the only ones thinking this way.
I don't drive so I use public transport all the time. Unfortunately it has become very expensive lately. Brisbane now has the most expensive public transportation system in the country and the second most expensive in the world. A 20 minute bus journey should not cost more than eight dollars! :(
Yes I do use public transport, but Melbourne transport is getting more expensive with a worsening service, so I am not sure how sustainable the usage is and how practical it will remain for our family outings. I wish public transport was more user-friendly, less expensive and more secure & reliable.
Ha!!! ha!!! ha!! not if i can possibly help it. You only need to read the Vent section of the MX to never want to use public transport EVER!!!
I most hate the fact that the A/C is turned up so high you need to wear a jumper to travel more than a few stops. not much fun. I always feel on edge on public transport. like something is about to kick off at any second. Until i moved to Australia I did not own a car so i used public transport all the time. but it seems so unexcesable here in Brisbane. you have to drive to the station there is never anywhere to park and the trains never go to the places you need to go. It's ok if you work in the CBD
I generally use my car however I love trains and even like buses, so if I go to the City I will always go by train as this is quicker and no parking problems.
Trains run very often however the bus line in my street has a really bad schedule and you can wait for an hour.
Used a train to go to work1974-2013! Loved it as could read or listen to music!
Drive from home to Railway Station was 7klms & took about 15 minutes', as had 17 sets traffic lights to go through!
Now still catch a train into Town, when need be!
Always use the train to go to the City. I drive to my local station and park. Couldn't be bothered driving in and then looking for a parking station. Apart from the cost and wear and tear on the car, it's much easier to enjoy looking out the window, or reading and arriving relaxed.
