A lot of people seem to be embarrassed by the proper names for some body parts - penis, vulva, stomach, breasts, little finger - and prefer to use euphemisms instead. Do you refer to them by their proper names?
Real names. Although I tend to refer to boobs rather than breasts - lots of "booby feeding" going on here. I taught my daughter to say labia after she kept pointing to mine and saying "bottom" - that just seemed weird. We do tend to say bottom or bum which I guess are not proper terms. Little Ms 3 was on the potty the other day and told her daddy "mummy and me have vulvas and you and the little dude have penises"...She's come a long way - at Christmas she was on the toilet telling me "you and me have our own vulvas. And daddy has his own vulva. And the dude has his own vulva".... Funniest bit was that my dad was in the next room laughing at us!
We tend to use a mixture. Willy and tummy but breasts not boobs. Though when there is anything seriously wrong, I always use the proper medicals terms. Saying "You have a willy infection" just seemed wrong.... and it's always a stomach ache when he's got a vomiting virus. I'm not sure why though! One thing I absolutely refuse to use euphemisms for though is my *ahem* lady garden ;)
At the Doctor of course I use the proper words.
If talking to someone else....I guess I beat around the bush a tad.
I grew up in a time that was different to 2014.We were never encouraged
to be blunt, on any Topic.
Funny how time changes a lot....Except I still am quite careful what I say .
Didn't believe in 'baby talk' either. Always spoke proper words to children so they didn't have to 'un-learn'.
Was at friends' place having BBQ. My toddler son was wandering towards BBQ. Hostess told him 'it's burnie, hottie', my son looked at me quizzically, & I just told him 'the BBQ is hot, you'll burn yourself if you get too close'. He was happy with that, & toddled off!
