If they’re done up so tightly that I cannot just pull off my shoes, then I’ll untie and loosen my laces. Otherwise, I manage to wriggle my feet free.

I do untie, as sometimes I have done it where I try to hop out of the shoes, and end up nearly 'braining' myself...because I have nearly fallen over!..lol
I don't totally do the big untie, just enough to survive the exercise.
'Braining'?! LOL jonaj, this is the first time I've heard that expression.
by Vee
I think it's English..lol.
But my family have used it since forever.
by jonaja
I think I'll start using it too, LOL.
by Vee
it's a good saying. :)

Sure is English. "I'll brain ya!" was a phrase often heard in my youth. Bumped head . . . ."I nearly brained myself on the door frame". As a threat it certainly sounds uncouth. Oh dear.

I wear velcro rather than laces. Saves the hassle of having to keeping tying them up.
I don't often wear lace up shoes but on the odd occasion that I wear my joggers, I do untie them to take them off.
I do untie them .. I used to be lazy with it, but stretched a pair of shoes too out of shape to be wearable, so now I untie.
Of course I do!

I think it is an awful habit not to and when you put them back on they will be too loose, so you would then have to undo them anyway.

I have many phobias, and this, I now realise, is one of them -I would NEVER take of a shoe without opening the shoe laces.

Though there is a saying "never say never"!

No, never!

Untie them, that way they are ready for when you want to put them on next.
Most times I untie my shoelaces before I take off my shoes. It doesn't take much time and I don't risk damaging my shoes.
I recently damaged a good pair of boots. I may have to rethink not untying my laces before removing my shoes.
by Vee
Yes I do, easier to remove and is ready for the next use.

If don't, one easy way to 'break' shoes, to the point they're useless, which is wasteful, & very silly (lazy?).

Army boots GP must HAVE laces untied! You'd never get 'em off otherwise!
P.S. I do a double-bow when tying shoelaces & that comes undone in a jiffy!

I have to untie my shoes to take them off as I wear hi-topped Converses.
I untie. Does that make me @nal retentive . . . or compulsive? LOL

The only shoes I have with laces are joggers. Yes, I do untie them when taking them off.
Always. Better for the shoes.

We'll, I have gone OFF laces and now buy footwear with zips yay! Footwear with laces then can stay tied up to the correct pressure and I can get them on and off using the zipper! So convenient ...
