Yes,always, despite living in the tropics where we seem to have PLENTY of water. As a kid in 1967 I went through a dreadful drought in Melbourne during which each household would fill the bathtub and this was all the water the whole family had until the next day! For all uses you can think of!! I STILL turn off the tap when cleaning my teeth!!!
I do what I can comfortably. I'm NOT into 4 mins Showers! That's just stupid. I don't really believe one can PROPERLY clean oneself, including hair, in that time. I don't just stand without washing & it takes me 20 mins, including teeth brushing!
I switch off the water where I can. I use the dishwasher when it's full, same for clothes washer.
Am careful with electricity usage, too!
Me too! I hate wasting water. I wash up, with only about 3 inches of hot water only in the 2 sided sinks. I use the washing machine, (cold water only,) only when it's full enough, so the cloths can still move around with the soap powder, I haven't had a bath in years, I don't leave the tap running while cleaning my teeth. I have very short shows, & only need to wash my hair, once a week! And we collect rainwater & shower water in buckets to pour over the pot plants, Most off the rest of the garden looks after it's self, except for a few weeks at the hight of summer, when we do need to hose a couple of the plants properly!
I am water conscious as we use tank water for everything. We are in the fortunate position to have mains water connected to our home, but it is only used in emergencies. Since building our 100,000 litre rain water tank 9 years ago we have run out once after I accidentally left a sprinkler on when the timer failed.
My garden comes second regrettably, so if we are low on water it misses out.
