Do you think the WAFL player (Mitchell Antonio) who tackled Beau Chately, got the correct punishment in a 10 game ban?

I think it was a horrible freak accident, and the guy would be suffering enough knowing that a fellow player is in hospital with such an awful injury.

I think he should not have got any punishment as they tackle like this all the time and this was freaky.

This is one of the reasons I HATE football. It is both dangerous and nasty and has such serious consequences for several players.

Ban AFL!!

I don't watch so I don't know. It's a stupid game and I imagine (or hope) that players don't want bad things to happen. Any punishment seems harsh IF the guy is suffering inside for inflicting the injury.

Lets have a look at this:
We have one player in Intensive Care with serious Spinal Injuries.

One with a ten week game ban.

Who got the worst punishment?

I think the game is very dangerous, and what also Rice says in her pic, is sobering.

I am not a lover of the game, because of the accidents that come up, and some so very serious like this one.

I would have to view the video evidence for myself to come to a comfortable conclusion.
I haven't seen the news in over a week, so I really cant say.
I do not watch or like,or even comprehend the game of Football,so I cannot really say I understand the punishment at all.HOWEVER... It seems to me that this injury is not the first which has occurred, inflicting such devastating and life-changing damage to a player. I cannot see how the player who caused the damage would need to get any further punishment,as he would be feeling so utterly dreadful for causing such an injury,NON-INTENTIONALLY. I would expect that football players are involved in this team sport for the enjoyment they get from playing, and NOT so that they can inflict grief and/or injury to others playing for the same reasons. These circumstances just make me dislike the game even more!!
well said Jules -totally agree!

Thanks so much Finy, for understanding what I am saying. I grew up in Victoria where Aussie Rules Football was THE big thing. In all my life down there I never saw even ONE game, either live or on TV. I just never 'GOT' what it was all about!!! I have lived in Qld for 30+ years now, where the Code played is Rugby League, and I understand /like THIS game even less than the one I grew up disliking!! It seems to be one of the most violent team sports around. So many shocking injuries have been caused during the playing of this game, and I really detest the attitude of many parents of the very young boys who are playing this frightening game. There seems to be little encouragement towards/no respect for, the notion of Fair Play. 'Win At Any Cost' seems to be what a great number of parents instill in their youngsters' minds from the very start. SO VERY SAD.....I grew up learning that there is NO 'I' in TEAM!!! and this goes for ALL aspects of Life!

I've no idea. There's probably been 100's of other tackle episodes since then I would imagine. Why mention just that 1? I guess he got what he deserved.
