I have a vivid memory of a school photographer recoiling in horror when I followed her instruction to smile with my teeth. I was in the first grade and missing a tooth or two. That experience left a mark on me, and for a long while I refused to show my teeth when smiling. ‘I’m over it!’ - as my husband says. I have since figured out that my teeth are fine and I look far better smiling with teeth than without.
Do you show your teeth when you smile or do you prefer a lippy smile, and why?
I just smile, no preferences, no idea whether my teeth show or not or what they look like if they do!
Being British I'm sure I use different smiles for different situations, so if I'm really annoyed with someone, I will smile at them with my passive aggressive smile, no teeth there I would imagine. But if I'm wildly happy and excited then grinning from ear to ear, with lots of teeth, seems the most appropriate response.
Does that help?!
