I have done this as a kid. My mom tells me I once picked up my blanket and sleep walked to another room and slept there. Thank God I didn't go out of the house ! I find sleep walking a little scary, it is such a confused state of mind between sleeping and being awake.
I've never sleep walked or encountered anyone sleep walking. I find the concept quite creepy! A friend of mine has a sister who sleep walks a lot and she has caused herself a lot of injuries through it - falling down the stairs, scalded herself washing her hands with boiling hot water, tripping over furniture and dislocating her shoulder - and all without waking up. Quite mindboggling for me, as I wake up at the drop of a hat!
Yes, I did this more in the past. When I used to sleep walk, I just got up and ate anything from inside the refrigerator. Then went right back to bed. In the morning I would have a faint recollection of my actions after I noticed some of the food in the fridge were half eaten.
