Following our son’s birthday, I meant to send out ‘Thank You’ cards to our guests, but I fell sick with a virus. A week has passed and I think I’ve missed my window.

Do you send out ‘Thank You’ cards and is there a time-frame in which they should be sent out?

I think you could still send them - a week isn't long really. It's really nice to get a thank you card, and I think your guests would still appreciate them. Actuallly, getting anything in the mail that isn't a bill is really nice :-)

I sent out thank you cards after my wedding and after the kids were born and do think it's a nice thing to do if one has the time. It isn't really expected anymore, which is what makes it so good when one turns up in the mailbox.
I think you could still send them, most people would be appreciative that you went to the trouble at all! I don't send thank you cards except for on very special occasions. I tend to email or phone to say thank you.

I do for some things.
Emails now can have a 'Thank You' picture, and I tend to send those.
Heaps of fun, and I think well worth the time. :)
I send thank you cards for presents if I am not going to see the person or call them. I don't think a week is too long. I will send them anytime within a month.
On the whole, no, I don't send thank you cards. Email and phone calls seem to have superceded them these days.... and I have never understood people who have received a present from me in person, thank me in person and THEN sent a card! That just smacks of overkill to me.
Special circumstances might merit a card though - if I knew someone had taken particular trouble over a present or gone to great lengths to do something for me, then I would send a card.
No I don't any more.

Used to but even though I used to import/wholesale greeting cards, and have have hundreds left, I rarely send a post office posted card.

I do it all online and if I had to send thank you's I would possibly do it also online.

However for something like a child's birthday, I certainly would do neither!

You could still send them.

I'll send hand-written 'thank you's' on quality Stationery, written in fountain pen.

Oh boy! Aren't I showing my age!
The best kind of thank you note/card. Not old fashioned at all. (or is that me also showing my age :-)

With email so handy, I always send a 'thank you email'. If the person concerned didn't have a comuter, a card would be sent, or a short note.
Occasionally. Should do it more.
I like to send them. I think the time limit is pretty elastic. The person would get just as much of a boost if it was three weeks later and they had put it to the back of their mind.
