I DO remember this packaging of Juicy Fruit.
I Also remember that juicy fruit was the only brand you could buy and just this one type with no other flavours, shapes or anything!
Now we have a large variety of gums you can buy, be they sugar free, flavoured, 3 different sizes etc, but that was not the question!
I am old enough to remember this type of packaging and used to buy it.
Mine was sixpence too!!! I could get a Scamp (peanut and chocolate abstract shaped delight) and a bag with flying saucers, dolly mixture, jelly babies and caramel buds. Mmmmmmmmmmmm. Boy, sixpence was a fortune and went a looooong way.
It was such a lot of money in the early 60's!!! I could buy an original icy pole( shaped somewhat like a rocket) for just 2 pennies!! Aniseed balls and acid drops( sour boiled lollies: YUM!!!) were 8 for a penny, and oh!! Those very small Cadbury chocolate bars( now sold as Furry Friends) were just a penny each as well!!! Most lollies were 2, 4, or 8 for a penny back then, so of course, my dad would then tell me what a penny would buy in HIS childhood days!!! A whole BAG full of Aniseed balls or acid drops!!! Of course, a penny became one cent, a coin which we do not even use anymore!! When I saw that Juicy Fruit photo, I smiled so much with the sheer joyous memories of days when we were actually allowed to have a packet of it, only if we PROMISED to wrap the used gum and put it in the bin!! 'Chewy' was not a thing we had regularly at all!!!
