I like drawers, just for privacy sake.
Drawers or on shelves normally.
Horses' for courses! It depends on what I'm storing. In my first house had all 3 for various items. Worked really well.
Cupboards & shelves, preferably.
Drawers at a pinch!
Most of my 'junk' are paper articles which I'm trying to store in plastic folders, But I'd love all my craft supplies to be in a BIG set of drawers, out of sight! Like the drawers in the above photo! Then I could keep all the plastic folders in there as well.

I love chests of drawers. . . . though cupboards are good too . . . but good old fashioned drawers . . . mmmm . . . must buy a tallboy . . mmmmm.
