Growing plants in pots has its advantages, but then again there are benefits to growing plants in the ground as well.

Where do you prefer to grow your plants and why?

I like vegetables in the ground and flowers in pots. But I also keep mint in a pot because it gets over excited and takes over everything, and I have plenty of flowers in the ground too!
Both for me, gives a little extra to the garden.
Well that's what I do :)

(no that's not my garden)
Either, as long as they survive!
I've a very 'wilted' green thumb! Lol!
I'll see your wilted green thumb and raise you a black one. Heck, I could probably kill plastic plants! :-))

Oh! You're soooo funny, Rice! Lol!
P.S. Know Kenmore well, as used to go horse-riding out there! Cheers!

I think plants look nice in the ground, but it is easier to do them in pots.
I definitely prefer plants in the ground. Pots need watering, constant watering.... whereas there should be enough water in the ground to make watering only an occasional hazard. I also prefer plants that keep growing year after year, and most pot plants die over winter and need to be replaced in the spring. Or to avoid that, they need to be wrapped up and moved into a sheltered spot etc etc . Basically pots are a lot more trouble than ground!
Some good points there VerityG, especially about winter - but then again we don't have that problem as winter is not so harsh where we live.

My plants seem to grow much better in the ground - better nutrients maybe?

Sounds about right. I imagine there is more organic matter in the ground than in pot plants whichever way you look at it.

A bit of both. I have a fenced off veggie garden, but aside from that I mostly grow things in hanging baskets so our chickens can't get to them. I like pot plants for indoors, but not with small children around.
I think plants generally grow better, and bigger in the ground though there are exceptions, some being cacti that like to be crowded.

However if I have a really nice plant, I always think if I put it in the ground I will not be able to take it with me, so about 90% of my plants, vegetables are in large or small pots.
