I like semi -formal dining.Casual is a bit too much like what I can have at home.If I am going to eat out,I like to feel pampered just a little bit;such as having the menu brought to the table after being seated, and definitely asked if I would like a cold drink. But I do NOT like to be hovered over,or the menu being so over the top with the servings so small that I leave still feeling hungry!! By the same token I hate meals that are so huge they could feed a family served in these very casual 'franchise' style restaurants where you stand in a queue to be served at a desk. They are way TOO casual.
I have done a lot of being 'wined and dined' at beautiful restaurants in the past (been on my own for many years and had many beaus I have to say!)...not now, to old and can't really be bothered....I love casual meals out but 'good' food if possible...
I like the casual café style for most meals when I eat out. But I also prefer the restaurant for special occasions, like special birthdays, events or celebrations. Nothing beats being spoilt at a restaurant as a reward for something worthy.
I eat out casually with friends about twice a week. If we are going out somewhere nice that we have saved up for, I expect to go somewhere formal to enjoy the whole night, which may be a concert or a show, and sometimes stay overnight in the City. Maccas for dinner before a special night just doesn't cut it.
