I used to love the more formal, with white tablecloths and excellent waiter service.

However I now find that just too "fussy" somehow and would prefer the casual cafe or restaurant.

It has been a while since I have been to a fancy restaurant.

I like semi -formal dining.Casual is a bit too much like what I can have at home.If I am going to eat out,I like to feel pampered just a little bit;such as having the menu brought to the table after being seated, and definitely asked if I would like a cold drink. But I do NOT like to be hovered over,or the menu being so over the top with the servings so small that I leave still feeling hungry!! By the same token I hate meals that are so huge they could feed a family served in these very casual 'franchise' style restaurants where you stand in a queue to be served at a desk. They are way TOO casual.
Casual. I spend so much of my life watching other people that when I get time off I really just want to RELAX!!!
Casual, definitely!
It's been so long since I went out somewhere formal! If it's just me or me and my partner I love formal. Obviously I prefer casual if I have a child or two with me!
Formal every time for me.
If I am eating out...then let it be!
I love that experience, and I have not done it now for many years.
''Bring-it-on'' :)
I don't mind either way. The important thing for me is the quality of the food and the service. Whether it's formal or casual doesn't matter so long as it's good food brought promptly to me!
I have done a lot of being 'wined and dined' at beautiful restaurants in the past (been on my own for many years and had many beaus I have to say!)...not now, to old and can't really be bothered....I love casual meals out but 'good' food if possible...

I like the casual café style for most meals when I eat out. But I also prefer the restaurant for special occasions, like special birthdays, events or celebrations. Nothing beats being spoilt at a restaurant as a reward for something worthy.
I like both - it depends on my mood

Either suits me fine. Don't go out that often due money restraints.
But when I do, I really enjoy it!
The 'eating out' is the occasion. I'm happy from a Shopping Centre cafe through to 'silver service'.
I love just not having to cook ALL the time!
if eating out formal, also good for children to eat formal so as they can learn then so as not to make embarrassing mistakes when older.
I eat out casually with friends about twice a week. If we are going out somewhere nice that we have saved up for, I expect to go somewhere formal to enjoy the whole night, which may be a concert or a show, and sometimes stay overnight in the City. Maccas for dinner before a special night just doesn't cut it.

Casual for us, restaurant or cafe. MacDonald's for us ...never cuts it!

A casual restaurant, as I am not for posh places.
