As a youngster I would often have all of these, with Red Salmon being a real treat, due to the price! I still love red salmon immensely! I do eat a reasonable amount of Tuna, with less of the tinned salmon varieties as Fresh salmon is now so readily available.I do not tend to eat sardines at all any more.
I must say that I am an eater of mainly FRESH fish,as I have such great access to good, flavoursome, truly FRESH fish.,at very reasonable prices.
I love all but in order of preference red salmon, tuna, pink salmon and sardines. I'm not too fond of the tinned sardines but they taste delicious when cooked fresh in a restaurant. I would buy more red salmon except it's expensive than tuna.
Having said all this, tinned fish is more an emergency staple in our pantry as we tend to buy fresh fish weekly - namely salmon and every now and again tuna.
I can't stand sardines, fresh or tinned, I only like fresh or smoked salmon, not tinned but I prefer tuna tinned to fresh. But it has to be in spring water not oil like in your photo *shudders*
Have all in my pantry. Used to eat a lot of tuna but salmon seems to have taken over. Sardines are delicious on toast topped with tomato and a cheese slice and put under the grill until the cheese melts - yumm!
I grew up eating sardines on toast with vinegar, salt and pepper mashed together on the toast. Weloved it. At that time we ate pink salmon because I can never remember seeing red salmon around. However I only eat red salmon because it tastes better, no bones or yucky skin on it but also have fresh or frozen salmon in my diet as well. As for tuna, I give that to my cat.
Aaah, what brand of tinned Red Salmon do you buy that has no bones in it?
I make a Salmon Kedgeree to my Mother's recipe, & the red salmon I buy, 'Woolies' brand, DOES have those 'round bones' in it, which I remove. There's usually about 3 'sets' of them! Hate them with a passion, & is reason I NEVER have Salmon sandwiches' out, because I always come across those 'bones' in them, & it's a real 'turn-off' meal then for me!
I prefer red salmon then pink salmon, then sardines. I dislike tuna so don't eat it at all unless in sushi or sashimi occasionally.I prefer to eat salmon smoked or as sashimi but still like Alaska tinned salmon.
I used to eat sardines on toast, about 45 years ago, but these much later years, I cook a salmon cutlet once a week, & have tin tuna in water, once a week, usually, also. I do have a tin of sardines in my pantry, so I might have that on toast to-day, for lunch with a squeeze of lemon.
I don't like salmon and can't stand sardines - the smell puts me off. I don't particularly like any fish, but can take tuna salad on occasion. I do, however, try to have fish in my diet once a week, albeit of the frozen fillet variety.
