Hi jonaj! Lovely looking bag! And you must 'travel light'!
I need a L A R G E tote bag,
By the time I input my ITablet Air, 600ml frozen water bottle, large cosmetic purse, wipes, tissues, shopping notebooks, coffee cards little purse, hankies, & wallet, I practically need an 'aircraft wheelie-cabin bag'!
And sometimes I DO use one, if I have to return goods, or I know I'll be doing much 'odds & sods' shopping!
I prefer small handbags but always end up with a large one as in addition to all my stuff I find I need wipes. crayons, cars, lego, selotape, snacks, juice cartons, change of small person clothes..... all stuffed into my (very large) handbag. On the rare occasion it's just me out and about, I quite often just pop my keys, purse and phone into a pocket and go without a bag altogether! It's a very liberating feeling.....
I have a medium sized handbag. But often when I'm out with the children I take the trusty "Dora the explorer" backpack with all their stuff in it and add my wallet, phone and notepad and go without my bag.
I like a medium sized handbag...so I can fit all the 'essentials' in it but no extra , as I too have back problems, always sling it 'acfoss my body.
I do also prefer a 'structured' bag now (ie not floppy but with some firm shape). else I find I am getting just like my mother....fiddling and foscicking around it it to find things which drives me nutty!
I used to love my huge bag which I could fit everything but the kitchen sink in!!It was gorgeous soft grey leather and the shoulder strap was very wide to distribute the weight more sensibly. But I was younger then, and after tearing my rotator cuff in an accident, which required some pretty major surgery, I immediately put that bag into early retirement!! I now have a small bag and I only take exactly what I need to have with me,when I go out. This includes my purse of course, and THAT is a whole other story with more stuffed into its small interior than I would carry in my beloved grey shoulder bag!!!
I go for large Totes, to carry ALL my guff!
At night, use smaller bag to suit whatever the occasion.
When I worked, it was a briefcase. It carried my multitudinous gear very well. Used to change briefcase every Sunday night, re packed, ready for use Monday. My Uniforms were ready & same pair of shoes worn for that week. Come the morning, I was hot-to-trot! Couldn't go to bed if this Organization wasn't done! I was in a job to which I could possibly be called-in any time of the night, or weekend. As all packed ready to go, it made this possibility much easier to live with!
I wish I could use a small handbag but take a medium one most days with the occasional large one now and then, depending on where I'm going and what I need to carry in it. I've found the bigger the bag, the more it weighs even when empty.
