Fresh always....dried are a tad hard at times, but then again some can be as soft as babies ears...
(Old saying) :)
I don't know if that's cute or spooky! LOL!
''i kNOW'' it's creepy....but true?
Ive only had them dried so thats where my preference will be.
Looooove them both BUT would eat them fresh as a preference due to the sulphites in the dried ones. (they make you F@rT)
LOL! Rice, it's ok to write 'fart'!
. . .but Vee, it's SO undignified . . . I tried to pretend it got there by itself. LOL
Hahahaha! I am still laughing. I will share this with my husband. He will apprecitate it.
Don't laugh tooooooo hard. . . . . in case . . . .
I'd go dried. Seems to be more flavour in them. Before the advent of flavoured yoghurt I used to chop pieces of dried apricot and add them to my natural yoghurt with a little apricot nectar.
Dried, as the fresh ones are always tasteless. In the 'good old days' they were juicy! I soak a dried 1 over night, for my cereal every day, (along with all the other dried fruits I have in my little ex-mustard jars with the red lids!!)
What do you soak them in miro_?
Fresh!
Will eat dried, if have to!
Fresh, but they're only available for a short time each year here. I grow peachcots (cross between a peach and an apricot, looks like an apricot, tastes more like a peach), which are similar, but sweeter, less tangy, but we only have those for a week or so because I have to pick them before the fruit fly get to them.
Jennifer, peachcots sound delicious! A shame you have them for only a week. We are currently waiting for our fig and apple trees to mature.
I love fresh ones as they are are juicy and yummy to bite into. I largely use the dried ones because we all love apricots at our home and they are available during off season.Dried ones are also easier to pack as a healthy snack for family outings as they don't make a mess and are a mouthful.
Either way is fine. Although dried apricots seem tastier, fresh apricots have more vitamins and minerals. Perhaps when my "sweet tooth" mood strikes, I'd go for dried. When the health conscious me takes centre stage, I'd go for fresh ones.
I prefer dried apricots because they are usually sweeter, and also more convenient to have in your bag for a little snack.
Unfortunately there is a big variation in consistency and quality of dried apricots though - sometimes they are soft and sweet (yum!) but other times they are quite hard and rubbery (yuck!).
The other downside of eating dried apricots is the amount of sugar in them, so you need to watch out for that.
