My husband takes his holidays mid- late January every year. Now that our kids have grown up and are no longer in school, we don't have to confine ourselves to the school holidays to take a break. We tend to go AFTER the school holidays, when the crowds have left our favourite holiday place by the beach. My husband has to put in for his holidays a couple of months before Christmas. A lot of the staff start their holidays on either Christmas eve or Boxing day. He works and takes holidays when they come back as do other staff. It makes sense to us, then it is a lot quieter, without the crowds, although it does get busy on the weekend. Holidaymakers from Melbourne clog the roads and come complete with boats and jet skis, but as long as the weather is nice, you will find them coming down there for the weekend. Other than that, we take holidays whenever we want, as long as we apply for the time off in advance. We hope to go away again later in the year.
Vee....I have heard some people even go away from their home?and they tell stories of seeing wonderful places, and staying in places, that are very nice. Some are even nicer they say than their own home*#!*? Can you believe
such things....And they say they have fun, and go to a place called a beach?
They sleep in bed late, and eat yummy food.
But! get this: they don't want to go home, when the time comes.
Then I have heard tell, they talk about what a wonderful time they had for months after the event.
This 'Holiday' thing must be wonderful!!
I am no longer in a relationship so I can do as I wish, and even more so now(!!) as I was forced into early retirement due to illness stopping me being able to work anymore. When our son was very small and the marriage intact,we would plan our breaks some time ahead to suit school holidays. Then when I became a sole parent,I would do a similar thing if we had plans to go away anywhere. But I am another who for many years worked for myself,so life was fairly easy where taking breaks was concerned!
Since I retired from work in early 1973, we took our holidays whenever my husband could get time off from his work. Since he took a very good redundancy 13 years ago, we going cruising any time we find a long Sydney return cruise!
