Yes, my husband and my son have asthma,my son was referred to a specialist at the Womens and childrens, when he was about 5 years old, and the specialist was very thorough,he still has it today obviously, but tries to manage it better,if it gets out of hands then it's back to the doctor's.
I know a couple of friends who have it. One of them is very well controlled, and rarely ill. The other lady, a friend from interstate, has been hospitalised recently. If she gets a cold, it can get very bad indeed. There seems to be a new medication they are trialling with the two medicines in the one puffer. Cortisone has many side effects, but it usually quite effective in asthma management.
Both my son and husband have asthma. My husband takes a preventative inhaler every morning and struggles without it (I can't recall what it's called). But my son seems to have symptoms only when he is sick. Thank goodness, that is not often.
