White Ribbon Day is on November 25th, the UN designated International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. In Australia the White Ribbon Day campaign highlights the need for men to become involved in trying to end rape and other forms of violence against women since the majority of it is perpetrated by men. This does not mean all men are violent, nor that men are never the victims of violence, just that men are in a position to make a huge positive difference in many women's lives.
Men are urged to take an oath not to perpetrate such violence nor remain silent if they observe it.
I do support white ribbon day, I light a candle, and I usually end up shedding a tear for all the women who are living in fear every day, and for those that have died from violence that was preventable.
