I bake my own Christmas cake. It's a boiled fruit cake recipe given to me about 40 odd years ago by the wife of a service station owner I used to buy my petrol from. So easy! I have made another traditional one which took me about 2 hours to mix. It was a huge cake and very tasty but figured I could make 4 boiled fruit cakes in that time. I've had so many people comment on how moist the boiled one is.
I don't make my own Christmas Cake (fruit cake) but Ido love fruit cake. I buy one every year and try different ones. My sister this year bought me one from Peter's of Kensington (brand name Tar10)…..it was absolutely beautiful very rich, full of brandy and very, very, very plump fruit, also pleny of ginger. 10 out of 10. Perfect. Small slice with a cup of tea…..wonderful.
