I do not wear vintage. It looks lovely on those who wear it, but I prefer to stick to the current time period with my clothing, and not go back in time. Some people go all out and really immerse themselves in the period, not just with clothes, but homewares and decorating as well. Its not for me, but looks great when it is done well.
P,S. I find that many of my vintage items seem to be far better constructed than a lot of the clothes made today. They wash and dry every well indeed, and so they last very well.Buttons stay attached, hems stay sewn up,etc! Definitely well worth checking this type of clothing out when you get a chance to do so!
I don't really wear vintage clothing, although I do like how it looks on other people. Sometimes, a piece or two will catch my eye and I will fall in love with them. However, I don't normally go looking for any vintage clothing.
I can honestly admit to wearing a lot of truly gorgeous Vintage clothing! When I was still working,I always was complimented on my clothes,as it was not the run of the mill stuff which every third person seemed to have on!
I like the prices which I have been very fortunate with too!! The secret is to choose what suits us exceptionally well, and what we feel comfortable in.I certainly wouldn't wear everything I see on Vintage clothing racks! I have some truly exquisite vintage blouses made with the most beautiful fabrics, and these can be worn with skirts or pants from any era.
A lot of my clothing is vintage. I look after my clothes so they last for years. A couple of weeks ago I wore a blouse I bought in Germany in 1990 to a dressy function and received quite a few lovely compliments on it.
I like to wear vintage style clothes...brand new stuff made up to look like the old...mind you, only when I'm in the mood. And I don't have an eye for that sort of stuff, so I could just imagine a person who is heavily "into" vintage wear looking and me and thinking I'm "doing it wrong!" - LOL. I do, however, have a really lovely vintage shift dress...it looks like it must be from the 80s or 90s.
I like wearing second hand clothes for environmental and ethical reasons. I like to have a unique look and with my basic sewing skills have been able to re- craft tems to make them wearable. I love the fashion of the Victorian era or the twenties. Although my clothes are not authentically either, I am able to inject a little of that look into my wardrobe.
