I LOVE chocolate and orange combined.
I make a cake with this and I also love dried orange covered in dark chocolate which is one of the few things I do not bother making myself but buy at a local IGA.
My ALL-TIME favourite!! As I have mentioned in an answer to another of Finy's questions,I adore dark chocolate covered orange peel,so much that I used to make my own when I lived in Melbourne, along with my Brandy-soaked dried apricots in Dark Chocolate which I would give away as gifts, while keeping the lusciously flavoured brandy for my own further use!!!
Orange and chocolate is a classic combination from way back.....Just think of Jaffas which many of use used to eat by the handful as kids! My parents introduced me to this combination when I was knee higfh to a grass-hopper,as they always ate Terry's Choc-oranges which my grandparents would send out to us from England before they were available here in Oz!We also would enjoy fresh orange segments with chocolate pieces as kids.WOW!! I have been really well raised, don't you agree?!!!!
Hee Hee Hee!!! D'you know? When we were kids growing up in the 60's/70's in the southern suburbs of Melbourne,a major Sunday afternoon outing was to drive along the Beach Road to St Kilda where Leo's (genuine) Italian Gelato Bar was our favourite summer destination.Even before my teens,my choice was always a scoop of orange,(remember this is NOT dairy ice cream!!!) and then a sprinkled Flake over the entire lot!! Total BLISS in a freshly hand made waffle cone!!! I often think of Leo's,as real gelato is so hard to get up here where I live in Townsville!
Oh! Rice Paper, do u mean you were one of the kids' on the block who DIDN'T roll Jaffas down wooden floors of the picture theatre, at the Saturday arvo Matinee?
Sorry, but your 'edjamacation' missed a lot! Lol!
Actually,it sounds as if 'rolling Jaffas down the cinema aisle,is the ONLY thing you WERE able to enjoy about them!! Hee Hee!!! Such a pity! As you know from my own response, the combination of Orange and Chocolate is an all time favourite of mine since childhood!!!
YesI love it, as long as it's DARK chocolate! I saw those Terry orange balls in Aldi recently, but they were milk chocolate ones. Luckily I read the label, before I bought it! I will buy 1, if I see the dark chocolate ones again.
No. I don't think chocolate and fruit go together at all. I hate those strawberries dipped in chocolate, don't like Jaffas, or Terri's orange slices or dark chocolate cake with a layer of orange mousse through it. Nope.
Yes I used to love the sensation of chocolate & orange flavour, but now I can't eat gluten, dairy or most sugars, (because of my Asthma) so that's now out, but having said that, I've now lost 9 ks, which I didn't need go loose, esp' from my boobs!
