This is part and parcel of the entire cake-making process, isn't it?!!! I rarely get the chance to do this any more and even if I did get it,I would have to decline as I know now that I am allergic to the eggs!! TOO SAD!!!! I do however make egg-free biscuits and adore eating the dough!!! Oh Yummmm!!! I must go and make some right now!!!
When we were kids we were always offered the bowl to "clean" and the beaters to lick the cream off but ever since reading that one shouldn't lick bowls because of the raw egg in the mixture, I scrape every bit out and into the cake tin, so no, I don't lick the bowl.
Me too. I don't know why all of a sudden I am so afraid of the raw egg being in the batter. Maybe it is since free range eggs have become the "norm". I don't know. but I do remember my brother and I licking the bowl weekly sometimes twice weekly and we never suffered any illness from it. Also enjoyed eggs flips and a raw egg in milkshakes when we were ill.
Why is it that in 2016 raw eggs are a no no ?
