No. Not really. We plan our menu a week in advance usually, so they can go and read the menu if they are unsure. Sometimes if we eat out during the day we don't feel like a big meal at dinner, so the menu may change slightly and we just have something light.
I am in the fortunate postion to not have to feed anyone but myself now. Yes those were the early married days and it was difficult cooking for a husband that wasn't really interested in food! Second time around thankfully that man did lots of the cooking. These days, "those" people should know better or cook and contribute.
I live with just my dogs now, so I never have this issue ! Even when my son was still here, as he adored cooking enough to become a chef, he would often ask me what I would like to have , and then HE would cook!! I must say I felt rather spoilt by such kindness!!
AJ, Look up recipes online with the ingredients you have in your fridge & pantry. I do this EVERY day, so I don't make the same (dinner) recipe more than once a year. I have a list in my 'Draft' folder on my laptop of the recipes I've made since some day in 2015. Before than, I used recipes books, & dated every recipe I made in pencil, so I wouldn't make the same 1 more than once a year. The only time I don't look up a dinner recipe is when we come home late from somewhere, (hardly ever) & we'll have tinned baked beans on toast with an egg, bacon & maple syrup on top, (The real 1 of cause.) I also look up recipes on, 'RecipeYum' Good luck.
