Yes I have both as I need my sleep. On warm night I DO nowadays turn on the airconditioner all night. In summer I generally have the overhead fan on all day and night on low and leave it on when the aircon is on also.
So Yes I have both and I use both - no point having them if you do not use them and get a good night's sleep because of them!
I have ducted air conditioning in every room of the house, so i have no use for a fan. I like to be cool wherever I may be in the house, not limited to the living areas. I need my sleep, and I have little problem sleeping on a sweltering night, which we have often here in Australia.
I have an air-con unit that doesn't work and no ceiling fan, which is a blessing as one dog is terrified of them and the other rooms have them. . . . and I daren't use them. I do have pedestal fans and the nutburger is not scared of them. ¯\(°_o)/¯
We have neither in the bedroom we use, but there is an air conditioner in the spare room, which used to be main bedroom. I tell my husband if he wakes alone he could check for me in there.
I should bring a fan up from the shed as I end up on top of the covers most of the night. We sleep with our windows open and light curtains drawn to keep out most mozzies.
We have ceiling fans in all bedrooms, the family room and the loungeroom, also aircon in the loungeroom. The fans are on 24/7 most days and all night. My cat sleeps on the bed under the fan as she has long fur even though we fight each Summer to thin it out.
