Yes, I grow both of these very successfully.

Parsley just keeps coming up each year.

Coriander -I could not grow when I bought commercial seeds. While living in the country a friend also on a farm, gave me some coriander seeds and these are totally different to the ones you buy.

I still have hundreds and even though they are a few years old, they still grow beautifully! They do not seed as quickly as the bought ones, and are so handy to be able to go outside and just pick however much you want.

Do you grow other herbs as well,Finy? With all your delicious recipes which I see you share with us,I'd expect that this is the case! Chives, mint, oregano, thyme, tarragon, rosemary, basil, etc are all so easy to grow and excellent companion plants to your coriander and parsley!!! And with all the lemon herbs available, you must have a wonderful time when cooking fish!! I use these so much that I have to keep planting more, especially my Lemon Basil, but as it prolifically produces seeds so well,it is not a major drama!!!

No, I do not have much luck with many other things Jules. I also do not use a lot of herbs so it would not be worth it. I currently have spring onions growing as I use these often and am sick of buying a bunch just to use a few, so I buy them, and if they have roots, cut off what I want and plant the rest and I have nice spring onions. I cannot grow basil as something always eats it. Also I have a very small yard. Currently have heaps of tomatos but due to cold weather, not sure how they will go -some are ripe and then they get eaten by snails.

Sadly I don't.
I just have a very small garden, but I guess I could somehow?...find some space, nice idea to have for the coming Spring season.

Will have to give it some consideration me thinks!
Even with no garden at all,it is possible to grow delicious herbs for yourself!! Just do as I do and grow in pots!! or have some fun and get your herbs from the supermarket to 'strike' by keeping in a glass of water where the light is good, such as a window sill. You will need to keep the water clean and fresh though.
There is never any reason to not give this a go. Good luck with it and enjoy!!!

Thanks Jules :) I will.

I grow all of my own herbs, and even have a small BayTree!!! There is NOTHING to compare with freshly picked herbs in our recipes! As well as the staple Parsley,I have Thyme,Lemon Thyme, Lemon Basil,Sweet Basil,Tarragon,Oregano,Culantro(Perennial or Mexican Coriander)which tastes much stronger than coriander and grows like a weed for me!!,as well as my Bay leaves,Lemon Myrtle (Trees in tubs so they do not grow to rainforest tree size!!),Rosemary, Chives,Garlic Chives, and various other useful herbs, which are seasonal rather than perennial!! I often grow my own herbs from getting shop bought ones to strike in a glass of water on the kitchen window sill. A very cheap and good way to have a bit of fun with them!! I have most of my herbs under the pergola just outside the kitchen,so thy are handy to for snipping when needed. I have always shared bunches of mixed herbs with friends and neighbours as I have far to many to use all by myself!
Yes, both, though I need to replant the coriander since the chickens dug it up.
We grew some herbs last year, as well as rocket. We just stuck to lettuce this year though.
No but would love to in the future.

Yes I grow parsley, and let it go to seed, which grows more parsley. I started with one small seedling, and now have five thriving plants. We like to nibble it to soothe upset stomachs, but it's our Guinea Pigs who truly love having a constant supply of Parsley.
At my family home, had plentiful supply of mint & parsley, which I just love, because my late Mother had the best 'green thumb' ever!

I've never had any success whatsoever with them!
Might try again after 1st Sep! Lol!
Can grow parsley easily, coriander never grows, tried seeds and seedlings - is there a trick??
This year neither my parsley nor my coriander took off. I was a bit sad as I love to have these fresh in salads and stir-fries and hate paying for them at the supermarket. My neighbour has offered me some coriander seedlings from his garden as his took off really well.
I only have 3 tiny pots of herbs, surrounded by wire, sitting on a seat in our tinny! but even then, the possem's have got in twice & eaten the parsley. I'm now waiting for my husband to build the veggie gardens he bought from Aldi, ages ago, & then I'll buy more herbs, & have the garden covered over. It's hard looking after them though, when we go on holidays!

Now some time much later: Those 3 tiny pots didn't last long. Now I just have a pot of mint that a friend gave me recently!
