Thanks to the generosity of my Mum-in-law, we recently had a short holiday with my husband's family. It was really nice to have time to hang out with each other and catch up on everyone's news and lives. We had three generations together and the conversations were fun and lively!

Do you ever have holidays with your partner's family?

Yes. It wasn't bad. Much more relaxing than going on holiday with my family!

We had a weekend away with my husband's family to mark his parents Golden Wedding Anniversary (fifty years). We went to the hotel where they had spent their honeymoon and did activities chosen by them. It was a ghastly experience and the best I can say about it was the at least it was only two days....

On the other hand, we happily go on holiday with my family and a large number of friends too. My husband and I met through a choir that goes away for a week every year, and a lot of our friends including my brother and his wife sing in the choir too. My parents come along to enjoy the singing and we bring our eldest god-daughter now to help with childcare. That holiday is enormous fun and we look forward to it a lot!
Sounds great, Verity!
I don't have a partner, but if I did, I wouldn't want to be travelling around with the in-laws.
I hate holidaying with the in-laws! I can't stand staying at their houses. I really hate sharing my personal space with others. We've travelled to the same town as my parents and staying in the same hotel and done some activities together - but we don't really consider that "holidaying together".
I normally spend couple weeks in the summer and two weeks in December at my mother in laws house. Its always a great time and my sons hardly want to leave when its time for us to come back.
