I love going to them, but personally had a medium sized one with around 100 guests. Even that was a lot of people to get around. I don't know how some of my friends did it, with up to 300 guests. I'm not sure if we even know that many people!
My husband and I had an intimate wedding of about 90 guests. I preferred it far more to some of the bigger weddings I have attended - 300+ guests. You know the ones where people invite the next-door neighbour's cousin's sister's mother-in-law? Not for us. We wanted to celebrate the day with only those who were apart of our everyday lives. It was great and everybody enjoyed themselves.
I think a small wedding can be nicer, than something that looks like a 'stage performance'!
People everywhere is not fun.Plus it is a lot of money, and that can be better spent, on a honeymoon. 25-40 people is nice.
Everyone is then better looked after, and it's still intimate.
Some people really go well overboard, and the wedding can then look 'tacky'.
Good taste fly's out the window with some weddings, and it is just a circus.
