I used to still have baths in winter however last few times I had a problem getting out of my bath and keep meaning to get a rail installed.

I quite like baths when it is cold as it is a good way to warm up when all else fails, however need to phone re the rail as my bath is quite awkward to get out of!

. . .(My dogs are the only ones that get bathed in my bath tub anymore.)

It's not really instead of since I will usually have a quick rinse in the shower before I have a bath. The shower is to get clean, the bath is for soaking in something warm and nice smelling while I read a book and drink a glass of wine. I don't have one often these days but when I do I appreciate it.
I love a good bath but I just can't manage to get in and out any more. I stay away from the tub now as I am afraid of falling in and/or falling whilst trying to get myself out. I have installed IXLtastic heater/exhaust fans in my bathrooms so that at least I can be warm in winter when showering.

My sister is 8 years older than me and WAY more spry. She stills works AND climbs ladders. Meanwhile, you and I need rails . . . :(((((

have you had an injury or just getting old -I used to carry bales of hay till I was injured, and now have a problem carrying shopping!
by Finy
No major injuries, two falls involving my left shoulder, diabetes and arthritis . . . damned old age really. I used to throw bales of hay around too and it is one thing that really annoys me . . . looking back on riding and and being able to toss bales of hay around :((
by Rice
yes it IS annoying when you have been physical and suddenly cannot be -however old age beats the alternative!

I usually shower, but enjoy a nice long soak in a bath every once in awhile.
Rarely.

We only have a shower.
I hate baths now and have not used one for over 10 years.

Too low down, with a bath for me. :(
Oh yes. I love my baths. When I have time, I just love a nice long soak. Very relaxing. Get out the bubbles or the essential oils and just soak. I feel nice and clean when I get out. We have a spa bath so it is extra relaxing. If we have been out in the garden and need a good clean it is great. My husband loves to lie in the spa and put bath salts or Epsom salts in and he feels a lot better when he gets out. Baths are great on hot days too. Fill it up with cool water and immerse yourself. Its like being in a pool. Sometimes a few minutes in the shower just doesn't cut it. I remember when I was dating. I would always have a bath beforehand to make sure I was nice and clean.

Only showers.
My son on the other hand, has always made an event of bathing. He takes a glass of wine and a book into the bathroom with him and spends over an hour just soaking in soapy bubbles, drinking his wine and reading. Says it really relaxes him.
I have always loved to soak in a hot bubbly fragrant bath, and we even had the extension to the house built to accommodate a longer-than-usual tub so I could lie in it properly to ease my spinal arthritis!!! However,I started to have blackouts a few years back and now I do not feel safe at all,in case I have one while in the bath and drown!!! VERY SAD!!!! But at least it meant I have had every test known to medicine done and they have found nothing at all amiss within my brain or heart!! But OH!!! How VERY much I would love to feel brave enough to have a relaxing scented soak!!!!
not worth it Jules if you have those problems!
by Finy
Oh I do know this, and that is why it seems so sad! I am very practical, and know that I have to just avoid many things I would previously have given no special thought to.It is amazing how well we humans are able to adapt when we have to do so!!! Even though I miss my soaks in a tub, my water pressure here is really super,so at least my shower almost feels like a spa!!! And when I have short-stay visitors, they do always comment on how lovely and LONG my bath tub is!!! So it is not going to total waste!!
by Jules
I will come to your house and sit outside the bathroom door and read to you whilst you soak . . . how's that?!
by Rice
What a truly LUXURIOUS idea!!!!

I have a very large spa in my bathroom as well as a large shower but shower only now. The spa was great when I was girl guide leader as I needed it after weekendsror weeks if camping and adventurous activities but rarely use it now. I loved being able to stretch right out and adjust the water jets for the soles of my feet and back but now wouldn't find it as easy to get out of.
Only showers.
Used to have a bath. Loved to read the daily paper whilst soaking.

No bath anymore, only shower recess, which I hate!
Having a shower's NOT relaxing in any way at all!
I used too, but i donít like wasting the water now, as in water shortages, so I havenít had a bath for about 5 years now, but I do have 1 or 2 very quick showers a day, after my walk before breakfast & again just before I go to bed!
YES. NO.

I don't have a bath in my current home, but boy do I miss the occasional soak! Showers are quick and practical though...
Only once in a while after a good work out. To soak and ease aching muscles in an Epsom salt solution.
Showers as I think the are cleaner than wallowing in dirty bathwater.
Plus showers use less water and take less time.
